I am an Incense Pedestal Stand. You might find me too beautiful to use, but donʼt put me on a pedestal. My blackened brass belly can handle the burn.
Curator's Notes
I find that the forming of a ritual can be incredibly grounding. Burning incense, the most ancient of rituals, reminds me to slow down. To savor the day.
This incense holder was made using traditional casting techniques from Takaoka, Japan, a city with a reputation built on metal work across 400 years. The centuries of knowledge behind its making give this piece an ancient spirit of its own. The delicate details lend it lightness, and the blackened metal body lend it weight.
